Creative Director - Brett Borthwick

FS2024 Future endeavors to explore digital realities through three distinct phases, mirroring the evolution of the internet. Approximately every 12 years, technology undergoes a profound transformation, and these shifts often serve as markers for the internet's evolution.

Web 1.0: Static

Web 1.0, spanning roughly from 1991 to 2004, characterizes the Static Web era, a time of information consumption. During this period, the primary use of the web was for reading and sharing information, with a limited number of content creators and a multitude of consumers. The internet held the promise of true globalization and the hope of genuine interconnectedness.

WEB 2.0: Social

Web 2.0 represents the Social Web and the era of interaction, encompassing the years from around 2004 to 2021. This period marked the rise of social media and online communities, allowing users to engage with one another. Through user-generated content, individuals were empowered to create and share content actively, rather than being passive consumers. Social identities were linked to the physical world but expressed in the digital realm.

WEB 3.0: DECENTRALISED

Web 3.0, known as the Decentralized Web, stands as the future of the internet and emerged around 2021. This phase witnesses the advent of blockchain technologies and the integration of decentralized applications. In this phase, users are recentered through data ownership, direct international interactions, and the elimination of intermediaries. Web 3.0 promises enhanced privacy and affords users direct control over their virtual identities. Consequently, one's social identity undergoes a transformation into an entirely digital entity. The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning further engages users in the process of connecting information.
